Credit Report Problems

Hello

I wonder if anyone can help - this may not be the right board but I couldn't see one that fitted any better.

I have been told today that I have "adverse information" on my credit rating. The lady said that this means it would be something specific like a CCJ or a default.
As far as I know I don't have any of those things and i have no idea why my report would say I have, so is that definitely what "adverse information" would be, or could "adverse information" refer to something else?

They said they credit checked with Experian and I've paid £7.99 to get a credit report. However, they wouldn't let me open a new account, I had to reactivate an old one from a previous address - I changed my details, but they say it takes 24 hours to update the address details and now I can't see a proper credit report until tomorrow. Argh! Does anyone know firstly if there's anyway I can get the information today because I'm panicking about what can have happened? Secondly, does anyone know if I'll definitely be able to get a proper report tomorrrow with it being Saturday, or am I going to end up spending the whole weekend with this hanging over me?

Feeling very panicked and on the edge here. :(

    Hi
You can, I believe, order the statutory report from equifax and see it online immediately (if you can tick all the boxes, if not its posted), costs £2. Whilst it isn't the experian one that the potential lender it could give you a clue.

Not sure if you will have access tomorrow - if they said so then you probably will (assuming you still know your password etc). Even if you cannot see it until Monday whilst you might feel stressed in the meantime if you are sure you don't have any bad debts or defaults then you will be able to sort things and have your report corrected.

  • Many thanks for replying - it helps to have a friendly answer:)

I've just signed up with equifax and got a report from them - and there's nothing unexpected on there -no defaults, ccjs, I'm showing on the electoral roll, everything seems as it should be. I don't know if I feel comforted by that or worse because it makes the mystery of what's happening at experian even bigger. :(

Well I suppose it makes it less likely to be something as major as identity fraud or something (as it would likely show someextra accounts/problems on both reports). But as you say does make the other experian one a mystery.

How long since you last checked it? how long since you moved? Just wondering if you cancelled anything just before you moved and could have missed a last bill (mobile or internet or something) and have somehow ended up with a default??

    Hope you find out tomorrow.
