As a self employed person, you are not entitled to any notice, holiday pay, sick pay, etc - its one of the diadvantages of being self employed.
You now need to stablish your claim for unpaid work by writing to them setting out what you think you are owed. Given them 14 days to pay or you will take them to the small claims court. Follow this up - forms are online.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -

That is not necessarily true.
You are entitled to whatever you may have contractually agreed with whoever is paying you.
The dividing line between self employed and being an employee is far from simple in some cases. A whole number of factors can affect it.
It is also possible, for example, for HMRC to decide that you are an employee but for an employment tribunal to say that you are not. Neither has the power to make the other change their view.

How did you enjoy working for them, was they happy with you and your work...what l am getting at is that l would have thought that in your line of work these people may call you up in a few weeks for another job or recomend you to someone else in the trade. So therefore yes you may be owed money (a days pay) but consider going about bringing it to their attention in a diplomatic way as not to give yourself a reputation. Can you not visit them and speak with them directly rather than phoning. Be sure to take the details in written form i.e. dates an money owed so you can leave it with them to look at.
Best of luck with it0
