CSA and pensions

My current pension is non contributory, basically all i pay is for widows and orphans fund, what I want to know is am i allowed to top up my pension, i can take out a shareholder pension to boost current one

how would this affect CSA payment and calculation?

    Depends on what scheme you are on, if the csa levied the sanctions since march 2003 then chances are you are on csa 2, which a net 15-25% salary after tax NI and pension contribution.

    They only allow you 1/2 your pension contributions in your assesment under CSA1

    i.e pay £100 and they only allow £50

    I.e your take home £450 after all your deductions you would have an acessable income of £500

    Doesn't seem fair does it :)

    personally i cant complain with my pension provisions as im on civil service classic pension which is quite good, for a change!

    wasn't asking as to how much i could put away so my CSA payments go down incase some NRP bashers on here would think

    a few of us have serious probs with CSA in some form but my conclusion is best just to get on with it as you cant fight an unfair system and win
