    Debt-free and Proud!
I agree! I guess it all depends on the night life that you're used to and you want to re-create - I love going to the theater, so now I hunt for free night less ordinary tickets and for cheap tickets to other shows. I can usually have a fabulous night at the theater for £5 or so! And I know that once my debt free journey is over I will be able to afford better tickets to bigger name shows and keep enjoying it.

I agree with the come dine with me - we dont call it that but my friends and I always take turns cooking little dinner parties for each other, meaning no restaurant bills for anyone! If all the guests bring cheap wine / cans of beer then everyone is happy.

I've also learned that many of my friend's are on a similar journey to me. They may not have debt to pay back, but they might have mortgages to pay or kiddies or babies on the way. Once one of you is brave enough to be upfront about lack of money, it makes it much easier to organise things such as "come dine with me" nights :).

going out doesnt have to mean spending money, believe me the best things in life are free.
going for a walk, listening to birds singing, looking at buds on trees and enjoying the fresh air are a luxury some people take for granted .
These things are just as enjoyable and romantic, and make life enjoyable and worth living
i am bedridden for a lot of the time and would love to be able to do all these free things, all you have to do is realise life is wonderful without having to spend money, if you are willing to just enjoy what you have money or not
goodness hope that makes sense :o

Hi DF - we are in a similar position with my debt and saving for our wedding. we only go out for a meal once a month with a voucher from MSE! lol!

but tonight we are going to make a homemade pizza together. that way we spend time together, have fun and laughs together and dont spend a penny as we are making it from what we have in the cupboards and fridge :) xx

thanks to everyone for their kind replies -I think it's just kind of been everything lately for me really - and that was kind of the final straw. Am feeling better today - I have decided to have a bit of a shopping spree and then get back on the wagon knowing I have treated myself a little. Oh and try and get some Tesco vouchers converted for a nice meal out.
Hopefully everyone else will find some good ideas from this thread as well.
    Thanks again.

    :j Good for you DF!

I was glancing back through my DFW diary and realise I do need to let myself fall off the wagon and then dust myself off - one of my posts was stupendously long; it was enthusing and drooling over a new dress from a "proper" shop (usually I only ever shop in charity shops). I haven't worn it to it's event yet but am still a big kid at heart and do like to try in on and dance excitedly across my bedroom :rotfl:.

Have already warned friend to bring over her fab shoes that would go so well with it. Told her she could rent space in my wardrobe for said shoes. Not sure why she wasn't up for that to be honest :D!
