My 5 year old daughter has really curly frizzy hair, it is really thick and is so hard to manage. It looks messy within minutes of putting it up.
I was wondering if its ok to use frizz-ease on her hair? I don't want to use any heat appliance on it as she is just too young but something to make it more manageable would be brilliant!
any ideas?

I don't see why not. I presume she knows to keep it curly not frizzy sh eeds not to touch it/play with it and that you are no combing or brushing it when dry? Styling curly hair neat can be quite hard.
I had success, as a child lolder than your daughter and now as an adult, putting my hair in a plait the night before wanting it smart and contained the next day.
A litle conditioner would also help...just left in, normal conditioner. Its not as good as frizzease and other curly hair products but its better than nothing.0 -
Maybe try different shampoos too, it could be the shampoos your using may have too many drying ingredients in them which can leave hair frizzy. Check for sulfates and sodium L, they may well be fine in products but its how much is in there, these ingredients can dry out hair and make it more prone to frizziness.0

I use frizz ease on my daughters hair, i also use the aussie rescue comdition that you leave on for 3 minutes and then rinse away - i do that every 2-3 weeks for her, she likes it because it means she gets to do girly things with mummy0

I am the original curly frizzy head and you name it i have tried it and have spent and obscene ammount of money over the years but here are a list of a few of my favourites (I have intellegent hair that every couple of weeks gets used to what i am using and i have to change the product)
Frizz ease - love it but you need a lot if your hair is thick
I normally mix it in my hand with equal ammounts of conditioner - any conditioner this gives it more 'weight' for the frizz
Leave in conditioner is brill but cheaper and i feel is better is to get a sqirty bottle and mix 1/3 normal conditioner and 2/3 water and you can spray it every morning. The reason i find this works better is because the ammount of conditioner is 'heavier' and gives weight to the hair
Now my favourite by far not only because it works but also because it is cheap is from boots it is their essentials curl cream £1.29

I love it and if put on when hair is wet leaves my hair in ringlets within an hour of natural drying also the next day just light spraying with the leave in conditioner sort of reactivates the cream
I would agree that plaits work well but mine would frizz by mid day mum would french braid my hair and that worked better:happyhear YUMMY MUMMY TO HENRY BEAR AGED 10:happyhearslimming world need to get back to target 25lb to goDisney World here we come May 2018:j0 -

I love and agree with all your other suggestions, but for me this stuff is hell.
OP, I think that as many curly haired people there are you'll find as many combinations of products that work/don't work for them.
Get experimenting. I would suggest though, the various condition methods would be cost effective and not damaging for a little persons hair on school days especially, with ''better'' more expensive things for high days and holidays. At leat till she's older. I used just conditioner today, and to me the hair felt a bit...frizzy on top, but DH was raving about how beautiful it looked when he got home...:o

I have long frizzy hair my favourite products are Herbal Essences - their intensive masks in a pot, their frizz fighter shampoo and hello hydration conditioner I am using at the moment. Also cheapy Tesco hair mousse (in turquoise bottle) and frizz ease secret agent finishing creme and frizz ease serum. Hope this helps.0

i would suggest using a natural product such as sheer butter or coconut oil?
you could try a product for afro hair as they do a childrens range of products which may be ideal, my daughter is mixed race, ive even found the johnsons natural cream works well for softening and getting rid of frizz, vaseline is a favourite, personally i dont like it as can be greasy but it does really soften the hair and add shine.shea butter is my favourite as ideal for hair and body***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -
Cut her hair to be very short. Then the hair will not be seen very messy. Don't use any chemica, she is too young.0

I would recommend trying a little baby oil when the hair has been washed, it's worth giving it a go.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I have very curly hair and it was a nightmare when I was younger. Now I have sorted it pretty much!
Wash and condition, I use my fingers to comb the conditioner through. Don't rub it dry. When damp, use your fingers to pull through a serum/curl cream. I use a half half mixture of both. Then leave it to dry - I don't own a hairdryer/comb or brush
If it needs a boost spray on some curl booster/leave in conditioner
Try to use a deep conditioner once a week if it's dry as well0
