A&L - credit checking twice in two days? Concerned.

We've just applied for a mortgage with A&L and have just been told that there was an issue with our application. Basically, one of the previous addresses given my girlfriend wasn't recognised (she provided the address but the credit check came back with a linked address in a different format) and so they have to resubmit the application.
I'm really concerned because they've told me they need to do a 2nd credit check all over again, less than 48 hours after the 1st one. And I'm worried that several searches in a short space of time might lead us to being rejected.
And I'm then even more worried that if that happens, we can't get a mortgage anywhere else for several months as we'll have two credit searches in 48 hours on our report and will look desperate!
Any idea of what we can do? I don't see why A&L need to do a 2nd credit check. The address was the same, but it was just in a different format.

Most companies will do two anyway, one for decision in principle and then again on the app.
Suggest you look at this to warn you.

We applied for a mortgage with the Co-op bank last year and they checked 6 times! They made a mess of the application and it was delayed and the delay was their reason for checking 6 times. They did turn us down, but its a long story.
However, we successfully got a mortgage with Mansfield Building Society via a lady called Liz at MB simply mortgages. No problems whatsoever, it went really smoothly. If you do get rejected, give them a call.0 -
Looks like the credit check bit was fine and it's now gone to the underwriters to look at, but what a stress.0

Just reopening this thread as I've just been declined for credit and the CRA has suggested this is probably why: A&L conducted 3 searches in 2 days for my application.
Is this usual when applying for a mortgage? We didn't apply for one in principle - we just applied outright for the full mortgage in one go. Why can't they just conduct one credit search?0
