Hello you lovely people
Thought I should start a little diary. Probably wont be very interesting but I want to be able to look back when i'm debt free of how I did it. Plus since i've been on here (only a few days) everyone has been lovely so I might get some more advice.
OH and I had a good ol' chat last night of how we could get out of our little mess. Resulted in much disccusion research on the web and countless lists. But today he has had the day off work and has srpung into action in finding bits to sell. So far he has listed some old Landrover parts from a vehicle he scrapped and posted them for sale on his 4x4 forum. Aparently a pair of mud flaps with 'Landrover' on them are worth £25!!! Lets find some more of them please!!
Also he has been in the attic, back of wardrobe and has a list to sell including his old electric guitar, PS2 and games, some old football programes and some books. Very impressed with him.
I've got some clothes to go on ebay. But think i'll only get about £10 if I'm lucky. But every little helps.
Ive got a little action plan to get through this week

Hi Ruby
Thanks for the post.
Rang Tesco Credit Card last night when I got home from work. No luck on the balance transfer so I told them to cancel the card. Then I cut the dam thing up:T. Felt quite liberating actually. One down two to go.
No luck on the car sale at the moment but OH has been thinking of selling his current van and down sizing and going back a reg. He found one last night which would suit the bill and would take part ex so my car in exchange for his van. My car is worth about £1900 the van is for sale at £1795 so could be possible with a bit of degotiating.
Then we could sell his other van pay off finance and pay off all the credit cards. The vans worth about £7k about £3.5 outstanding on finance. Sounds easy I sure it wont be but hey if it works that could be the way forward.
Did my meal plan last night and went through what we actually need and did a price up on asda website and it came in at under £25 :j Will go saturday afternoon when they do the reducing or woopsing as I call it to grab some bargins.
Actuallly I cant wait to cook it cos it sounds very tasty. So Bacon and Pea Rissoto tonight with whats left of the wine and cheese. (parents have a house in France so get given bottles of plonk every know an then)
Still need to change the water to metered but need to hunt out an old bill for the account number so thats a Saturday job. OH needs his hair cutting tonight so out will come the shears.... im mean clippers lol and i will sort that out myself. Dont panic all I have done it before. That saves a fiver at least.
So this weekend will consist of baking cleaning and sorting stuff for ebay. Actually I cant wait.
What are you guys and gals up to?

Morning. The sun is shining and i can smell summer on the way or is that cleaning fluid.lol
Since yesterday things have taken a slight turn in the wrong direction OH was doing some paperwork yesterday for work and basically the cheque he was counting on so he could pay his wage of £600 hasnt gone through so looks like we wont be able to rely on that to pay the bills this month. However i did a bit of calculating and because there is no council tax payment again this month i reckon if he finds £115.00 we will scrape by without using the overdraft. But we shall see. He's working today sunday and monday so hopefully they will pay up once the work is completed and that should solve that problem.
I so hope that doesnt happen next month.
No luck on selling my car yet, shopping last night cost £35!!!!! £10 over budget, I forgot we needed washing powder and we bought a couple of things in bulk so will see the saving next week so im not too disapointed.
Received my home ins renewal yesterday its gone up to over £200 per year! So I rang them to cancel the renewal, they tried to get me to stay and got it down to £164.00 but if i go through onepoll cashback i can get it cheaper and £27.50 cashback so happy days. Pet insurance up next month so will do the same with that.
Anyhow I should really get back to my cleaning and baking.
Have a lovely day all.

Morning folks.
Had quite a productive weekend.
Baked Lasagne, Chilli, 3 servings of fish pie, Roast Beef with enough left over for tonights bubble and squeak.Found a recipe for hob nobs on the forum and they tasted great oh said they tasted better that shop bought. They didnt last long though!!
Spoke to my parents over the weekend who are worried about me. The have offered to loan me £2k to help out and me to pay them off as and when i'm back on my feet. Not sure what to say, I got myself in this mess so I really shouldnt let them bail me out.
Running tonight after last nights wii fit result, I definately need to shift some pounds. Though the homemade biscuits probably didnt help.
Put £200 in account today from my wages.
Got to get dog food tonight
Buy some eggs from oh step nan only a £1 for a dozen free range eggs. (She keeps 15 ex battery hens in her back garden.)
Pay £10 off credit card.
Found £5.83 in OH pockets whilst doing the washing over the weekend so thats gone into the treat jar.:j
Will go and read the other diarys on here now see what you've all been up to.

I've been thinking today, whilst entering invoices at work (its so boring), If I took the loan off the bank of mum and dad, paid off my halifax card then paid off the van finance onto the joint card @ 15% then I could have the debt paid off by Dec 2010:j
I think this will work just need to find £600 per month to do this but I think I can do this its not totally unrealistic just a little difficult. Nothing like a challenge!!0 -
Hiya!
I've just read through your diary and wanted to say you're not alone and you're doing brilliantly!
Keep it up.

Hi Stephy
Sounds like you're really thinking about things now, and thats the change we all need to make.... about the loan, well, savers aren't getting much at the mo, you wouldn't really be depriving them of much interest right now - so if it would help you get debt free, and then you could pay them back, that would be a real result.
Have you done an soa? Its always great to get things sold (which helps with the decluttering too, and I'm very into that at the mo
) but cutting down the outgoings is astonishing - I cut £35 a month off my water bill, of all things.
Good luck to you!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks ~b~ and karmacat.
I think I will go with the loan off mum and dad apparently if i say no im insulting them and thats the last thing I want to do but this is a very temporary measure.
I have lots of money saving things to do at the end of this month as this month everything seems to be up for renewal. So I should see some savings in April from that and hopefully get some cash back whilst im at it.
I have also been through my wardrobe and have 15 items to list on ebay without delving into the box oh has kindly sorted out.
Things feel good today. Off on the wii fit now to do me 30mins.

I'm on lunch break at the mo with my cup a soup its yuck but its only 60 calories so thats good and the box of 4 only cost 68p so that will last me all week for lunch. Running tonight aim to get round the track without stopping today!! Cos of all the baking i did on Saturday tea is sorted, just have to pop a spud in the oven before I go out running and by the time i come back and have showered and pingied the chilli that should be ready. List of things to do tonight
Get bread and milk on the way home
Order water meter online
Speak to mum and dad re the loan
List some items on ebay
Home insurance and pet insurance renewal online
Ironing
(I hate ironing)
Wipe over the bathroom
Looks like im gonna be busy.
Also this week once I want to do another SOA as i think this will really help, the last one I did missed out loads so I am going to count every penny on this one.

 Thats a good list!
Stephy, I just wanted to check that you've gone through Martin's article about water - his basic rule of thumb is that if you have more bedrooms than people, its probably a good idea - its just that I mentioned it yesterday, and wanted to check for you
Its suited me so well cos I live alone in a 3 bed house... but my business partner has a wife and child in a 2 bed house in the next road, it wouldn't suit him at all....2023: the year I get to buy a car0
