Floor Cleaning advice

Options
Hello again! You lot are my lifesavers!!

As you know, I'm just about to move on Friday. We're moving into a place that has alot of laminate. I've never cared fo laminate before so I have no idea but I have seen alot of exspensive products on the market

I have to ask this before I go because as of Thursday I'm not going to have internet for two weeks

Anyway, does anyone have tips for cheap & best ways to care for laminte? I don't want to spend out on the stuff that costs the earth!

Thanks :D

Mop and bucket works well for mine! with just a sqeeze of detergent and disinfectant! obviously hoover it first! mine has very very heavy wear 6 people 3 dogs !! and was only very cheap to start with but it seems to be lasting! one tip if liquid gets spilled on it wipe up asap as it can seep down between joins and shorten life of it
    good luck with your move!

I think in the stardrops ive seen the light thread it was said that Stardrops was good for cleaning the laminate.

We dont have laminate but I have just bought a new mop! Before anyone says anything the old one was 6 years old the head was in tatters and the stick had been used as a curtain pole. Anyway back to the thread, it was from Dunelm Mill and is a "magic mop" its a very firm sponge in a circular shape, which squeezes itself (when you pull the handle) anyway my point is its very good on our kitchen tiles as it doesnt leave much moisture and picks up the cat hairs and dirt really really well. (which the old rope mop didnt do so well on.)
I could imagine it would be a good mop for laminate (it cost £5.99)

I use washing up liquid and water and a microfibre cloth (was told not to use a mop and bucket)

i use stardrops,it cleans well and doesnt leave the floors looking dull :)
  • Thanks guys, that's really helped. Wasn't sure if I would be able to use a mop but I will now use a dry-ish mop and the beloved Stardrops!

Weather is far too hot to be moving, I'm up to my ears in magnolia trade paint and it's so hot that the only way to keep as cool as possible is by painting in my bikini :D Not a pleasant sight but I closed the curtains :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We've just laid one, and the chap who laid it said not to get it too wet, and recommended one of those flash mops with the liquid in a bottle attached, which you squirt and wipe. I invested in one from the supermarket, with the plan of replacing the expensive flash liquid with a stardrops solution when the bottle is finished. Hope this will work!

Best thing I have found is a Microfibre Mop and some stardrops in a squirty bottle. That way you dont get the floor too wet.

You can wash the mop and it comes up nearly new.

We have laminated wooden type floors and usually use Flash with the ocean scent...my fav!!

Occasionally, we use very hot water with a few drops of vinegar and a tightly wrung mop.

I just noticed a microfibre mop in Morrisons so I might get one now :)
