Time to remortgage

I want to remortgage towards the end of March. This will be my first remortgage :-)

My 2 year fixed deal with Alliance and Leicester ended a while back and I have just been paying the variable rate.

I will be remortgaging to a First Direct Offset deal as I have banked with FD for years now, they have some great offers at the mo and because of my type of work (work offshore), it suits me offsetting.

My question is, how long generally will this process take? Will Alliance and Leicester be !!!!!! and require a month's notice letter?

The process is as long as FD and the solicitors make it.

A rule of thumb would be 4 weeks.

If you are out of any tie-in you will not need to write any letter to A&L, the solicitors will do all the relevant work and request redemption figures etc

There you go - a "real" timescale for the OP.

A re-mortgage taking that long is scandalous - I feel sorry for the person you were talking to.
