hi,
i am new to this site so im sorry if its in the wrong thread or something.
i need help in how to get a default removed. I was an avon represative nearly 2years ago for about 6mths, always paid my bill ontime etc and never had any problems. i wanted to stop doing it as i was moving house the next month and the new area i was moving to wasnt an appropriate area to carry on doing it. i rung and spoke to my avon manager and told her i wanted to close the account down and my reasons why. she told me my account was paid up to date and that she would close it down for me. The next month i then moved address.
Then a last month i did a check on my credit file and it said i had a default with avon for £42. I spoke to avon and asked them how i had defaulted and that my manager had told me my account was paid etc. I asked them to send me a statement stating what i owed which i received this morning. It state that i do owe the money but i cant remember anything as it was nearly 2years ago but i know that i wouldnt of not payed them and defaulted on just £42. How can i go about getting this removed as i think its unfair but is clearly my word against theirs? please can somebody help me as i havnt got a clue what to do?????

Probably won't be easy Laura.
Have you still got paperwork to show what you did pay? and does this item appear on it at all. When you spoke to the manager did you give them an up to date address?
They need to send a default notice out before they can enter a default but they could easily have sent one to your old address.
Your best bet might be to try negotiating for them to remove it if you pay (they don't have to but they might - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=30356419&postcount=27A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
