Lloyd's/AIC? STRESS!!!! Help!!!!

I knew it seemed too quiet...
Have had call from from this AIC-I'm assuming they're a DC...
Coming across all friendly then basically telling me that I have to give them £19k or my credit rating will never be the same (duh!)

I'm 4 payments into my DMP with CCCS and this has really freaked me out...back to square one with the threats, phone calls etc.

What do I do?? I've told them my situation and they're telling me that I have to find the money from family (ha ha ha) or see an IFA. More borrowing is NOT an option.

Help.

    Allied International Credit?

They have been passed the debt from Lloyds, you need to call CCCS with your AIC reference number so that we can send payments to AIC from now on and get all the proposals and authority sent to them, once they have this they should be fine again.

Is this the co handling a Lloyds debt? Are you paying them or Lloyds? Have they given you proof that they "own" the debt?

I would just ring CCCS & pass it over to them....any letters can be posted to them, if you get any more calls just say "I am not willing to discuss this over the phone - please put your request in writing" then send it to CCCS.

When I started with payplan I got freaked out by these letters and threats. I just posted them off to payplan, phoned them to say they were on their way and if they could deal with them. one of the issues with a DMP is that it can take a while to get the money being paid to the correct DMC especially if they change freqently (or it has been with me and Payplan) so these letters/phone calls raise their head every now and again.

What you need from AIC is a letter in writing stating that the debt has been assigned to them. With out this - they should not call you up.

AIC have done this to a number of my clients in the past and I have to do this every time. If they do not do this, they are not adhering to the Debt Collection Guidance as set out by the Office of Fair Trading.

In those guidelines it also states that they can not encourage you to borrow more money from other sources to "pay them off"

we have a Lloyds debt that got passed to AIC about 6 months ago. nobody actually told us that AIC had the debt, we only found out through many letters and phone calls and then asked them to confirm in writing.

In my experience, they were really pushy and told us the same story .. borrow from friends/family, remortgage house were just some of the suggestions they came up with! We have found them rude when they have called and yes .. they told us to pay off the debt in full 'or your credit rating will never be the same again'

We offered to pay £150 per month (a bit steep really but OH said it before thinking), yet they declined this 3 times saying that in light of his credit score they could not accept monthly payments because they could not guarantee we would stick to it!

eventually, after months of arguing with them, they agreed to it and we have stuck to the payment plan. Now they are trying to get us to increase these payments or pay off the remaining balance in full.

If your paying through the CCCS, it is likely that they are just trying to get more money out of you than what you have paid. Although we deal with them direct, they keep putting the pressure on by saying it will take us 8 years to pay off if we keep to original plan and how we won't get a mortgage or loan etc if we need one. I think you definelty need some confirmation that they are now dealing with your debt, and to find out who you are supposed to pay to, them or lloyds.
If it is AIC who is dealing with it, like floss says, see if the CCCS will deal with them for you .. then at least you won't get the hassle we have by dealing with them direct

Thanks everyone for your replies, I really appreciate the help.
I just got freaked out because it seemed as though things had got sorted out.
I will definately follow your advice (especially regarding taking out more lending AS THEY SUGGESTED!)
    Thanks again...

Hi hope you are lessed panicked after the previous posts- just send the letters to CCCS if they are dealing with it - but do make sure they know if AIC are harassing you as they (AIC) can be a bit naughty in this respect and may continue to try and hassle you -don't let them do it and let CCCS know what is going on - they will deal with it for you.

    Hi Bunnyinthelights

I'm afraid I don't have any concrete advice to offer because I don't know enough about AIC to give you an informed comment...

However, reading through these boards, I do know that if you are in an organised payment solution plan with the CCCS, then I'm sure if you refer AIC to the CCCS, they should take the problem up with them. I'm fairly sure that the CCCS now act on your behalf, and anybody who has a "problem" with you, has to take it up with through the "official channels", i.e. CCCS.

    Good luck with sorting this...
