Statute barred Scotland question.....

Hi. I have just joined the forum after reading for a while. I joined specifically to ask this question.....
I have a debt which shows on my credit report as defaulted on 01/04/05.
I am told that this may be statute barred on 01/04/10 but i am really not sure if this was the last time i made a payment or not. The debt has been passed to many agencies and i did pay at least one of them something.
How do i find out when the last payment was made to the debt without admitting to it? I am told if i ring and admit to the debt they can chase me for another five years?
Is it statute barred after the last payment or after the default?
Thanks
Paul

Hi
the default date will be 3-6 months after the date of the last payment to the original creditor. if you made another payment later, the debt is not SD until five years after that date. I would check your bank and credit card statements.
Ringing would not count as acknowledgement but I would not advise it until you know the date of that payment to the agency. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks for the quick reply. I have searched my bank statements but had other collection agencies chasing me over the years. I dont know which ones were from this company.
Would me confirming my details over the phone amount to admitting to the debt?0 -
