What happens now

Hi All.

I don't really seem to be getting anywhere with the CSA at the moment and was hoping someone could help.

My son is 8 now and my ex partner has paid about £300 in Child Support over the years. He has been to uni a few times and had a couple of part time jobs but as soon as the CSA gets involves, he quits. The arrears add up to about £2800. He has defaulted paying more times than I can count and the baylifts have been involved. As he lives at home with his parents though they can not take goods to clear the debt as nothing is his. Surprise Surprise. The baylifts have had to pass the case back to the CSA as there is nothing more they can do. The CSA have informed me that they will have to get the debt enforced now but I am not quite sure what that means.

Please can someone clarify what happens next? How many times can my ex partner start a job then quit then start and quit before something can be done? I am at my wits end about it all. It isn't the operatives fault but if this was a credit card or loan debt it would have been sent to court by now.

Many Thanks in anticipation.

Sadly for you as many times as he wishes :o
it seems he is making a career out of avoiding the csa, so let the fight begin as you will for a long time be chasing.
    Good Luck

If bailiffs have been involved it already has been to court and the CSA have a liability order - and it was most likely the NRP's deliberate evading of his DEOs that prompted this. It sounds like he just doesn't have assetts that can be seized to pay this debt, and if it were a credit card or other debt the situation would be exactly the same.

I am not sure what the CSA officer meant by getting the debt "enforced", as they have already tried to enforce it through liabiity order and bailiffs, but maybe they mean they are going to go for a criminal prosecution. Perhaps the threat of this could prompt your ex to pay up, maybe by borrowing from family.
