eBuyer are well known for their guitar deals but currently have flutes and trumpets in stock. These were stocked briefly last year but sold out within days.
Both are manufactured by Pearl River and are of excellent quality, great for the beginner.
For the budding Ian Anderson the flute is here.
If you still can't forgive your brother for drawing on your Top Trumps cards in 1974 then buy your nephew this trumpet for his birthday
£49.99 each plus postage - you won't find cheaper and I doubt they'll last long. Buy now for Christmas.

DS plays the saxophone (Yamaha, gd 4), DD1 plays the flute (Blessing, gd 3) and DD2 the clarinet (Chinese, gd 1). Our experience is that instruments require set up and servicing / fettling every year. The clarinet required set up prior to use. If you are not trained in servicing the instrument setting them up is not possible (although if someone who is trained shows you problems it is obvious).
I have had a look at examples of Chinese imports and often they will be un-playable without set up (v disheartening for the beginner) although they have improved markedly over the years.
I buy via my local musical instrument workshop in Lincoln and do pay a small premium over the "ebuyer price". However the workshop is above a junkshop and if the owner is making a bundle it certainly doesn’t show!
If instruments go wrong they need to be adjusted by someone who knows what they are doing hence buying local is a good start.
(ps I m not involved in the music trade this is from about 8 years worth of experience with the children.)0 -
I have looked at saxophones for myself. And I found one website that told me not touch cheap imports on ebay/ebuyer as they the quality was not good.
As it would put a beginner off. So if buying it cheap puts the person off playing then it hardly become money saving.
