Hi
I've got a mortgage agreed already with Portman Building Society - 2 yr fixed at 4.something%, and I've seen a property I like but I'm about £5K to short.
I've gone with the Portman as these were my existing lender before me and my partner split and I've not tried anyone else, but they can't give me any more money, despite having an OK deposit after my partner paid me out and near clear debts.
I could do with a free free whole of market broker who can perhaps give me some good advice. I'm going away for a few days, but will try and check my emails.
Thanks,
Rachel

Do I detect a certain urgency in your request Gromitpet14?
There are plenty of brokers out there who will deal this way for you. Questions to ask are:
Are you Whole of Market?
What are your fees?
Do you have any panel restrictions / limitations on lenders available?
How long have you been transacting mortgages in the UK?
Why should I use you?
Any decent broker will be happy to answer all the above.

I wasn't directing these questions at anyone in particular, merely advising the OP of the questions I would expect to be asked and would suggest are a good starting point for anyone looking to engage the services of a broker.
The point being that, although a firm for example may have been trading for a number of years, the individual broker dealing with your case may have only just qualified and you could be one of their first cases. This applies particularly to large corperate firms or some estate agency brokers.
As you well know MM I am not here to self promote and am not posting these questions with a view to answering them myself.0
