CCCS and HSBC advice please!

I have had some great advice on here recently which has REALL helped me cope better!!

I completed my SOA, then contact CCCS and got the package through from them. Contacted my mortgage lender and utilities to explain that I was off work ill, only minimal SSP paid so far and was advised to apply for Income Support by another board member or two (have done this now and am waiting for payment hopefully not too long). I was coping with paying all my bills when I get paid (never had any month left for food or anything else) and was always overdrawn and of course it was a HUGE struggle, but this time away from work has knocked me back a bit to say the least. should I try and get past things this month (as started back to work this week) or start the DMP with CCCS and take 10 years to pay my £9,000 debts off? I was hoping that CCCS would get in touch with my Bank re my overdraft and credit card to try and freeze the interest and stop the charges (or do I have to deal with this myself?). HSBC are a nightmare. I have opened a new Co-Op Bank account (again on the advice of a board user) and am going to pay my salary in and direct debits out. However I have a £1200 overdraft with HSBC and am now panicking because I have a feeling that once they realise my salary is not going to them anymore, that they will want the money all at once? Can anyone advise me what to do about these points please? Thanks very much.

    Hiya!
Cccs will advise you not to tell anything to hsbc until your salary has gone into your new co-op account. Then the offers and token payments etc will go to hsbc. That's what I am doing with Payplan.
Also as each direct debit clears switch them over to your new bank account and close the dd's in your old account. It's easier to keep track of that way.
I'm with hsbc too and have a cc, loan and a £1300 overdraft which are going onto the dmp. They haven't been told by Payplan yet!

    Agree with Jeddy.

And don't worry, CCCS will get in touch with creditors for you so you don't need to deal with them yourself. And if you do get letters or calls, just direct them to CCCS.

I know 10 years seems like a long time. However, you need to balance this with your health and peace of mind. For a lot of people, just worrying less about surviving day to day, means they can get on with their life and in the future, you may find you can afford to pay a little more and bring that debt free date forward a little. Only you will know what will work best for you in your circumstances.

Well done on beginning your debt free journey. I wish you the best of luck with it. Take care :).
