Villa Vinci - just past Donard Hotel - really wonderful italian food with a great family atmosphere and lovely staff. I love it.
Farther down the promenade, up nearer to Donard Park, there's Sea Salt. I'm just not sure if they open in the evenings midweek. Tiny place but amazingly good food, locally sourced and lovely friendly staff too.
They'd be my choices in Newcastle. :-)0 -
Have to second Villa Vinci. Celebrated my best friends 30th here and had a great time. Food was delicious and the staff were fantastic. Prices were very reasonable as well.0

OH and I went to Villa Vinci back at start of Feb on a Sunday evening - we did not have a good experience to be honest. Service was awful - had to ask for our drinks twice, parmazanne (sp?) cheese 3 times and we gave up waiting for our plates to be collected and went up and just paid the bill there and then.
Food was lovely though, have to give then that. Place was not overly busy - plenty of staff in the place but one girl seemed more interested in sorting the menu's out than the customers. Shame really as it had been recommended to me by a friend.Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

saw this on the main screen and didnt recognise any of the place mentioned, then realised it was Newcastle Northern Ireland
and not the one in England

Unsure of where is good for an 'adult' meal as normally we are looking for something with the kids but I can say that I would advise you to avoid O'Hares. We were there a while back, the waiting time to be served was crazy, forgot our drinks order, then brought our meals out before the kids and the kids meals didn't come for another 20 mins despite asking 3 times. THen when I was chopping up the chicken for my child it was still frozen inside... nice:eek:. Needless to say we promptly left.0

well we ended up going to the chowder house (part of the donard hotel) it was lovely and reasonable value too. Apparently they've been there a couple of years...but who knew? lol
so, hth others.0
