Mercers/Barclaycard

Hiya
I am just looking for some advice. I have sent off letters and statements of income/expenditure to my creditors.
Northern Rock responded very quickly in writing accepting the offers of payment on 2 accounts I have with them and said they would put the payment plan in place until April 2011.
I haven't received any other written responses as yet but have had a few phone calls. I am not sure whether I should be saying to people, respond to my letter etc or whether I should be speaking to them on the phone.
I received a call from Mercers last night (well in fact I returned a call of theirs, don't know if I should be returning calls but they had left 4 messages in 3 days). Anyway basically what they said was that they couldn't look at or accept my offer of payment as I would need to have someone from the CAB or CCCS contact them in writing confirming that they had been through my income and expenditure and all was in order. (The level of debt with Barclaycard and payment offer is very similar to one of my Northern Rock accounts which Northern Rock accepted with no problems or further info).
Mercers offered a reduced payment to me which was much higher than my offer and said that based on the level of debt that was the lowest they could accept.
I asked if I would receive a written response to my letter of offer and was told that the phone call was their response and I wouldn't receive a written response. Is this correct?
They have put my account on hold for 30 days so I shouldn't receive any phone calls but they said that I may still receive letters and that if things couldn't be resolved and a payment agreed they would be looking to pass my account on to a local debt collection agency.
I am just looking for any advice on how to deal with this.
Any responses greatly received.
Thanks in anticipation

I've got the same thing with Barclaycard/Mercers. Everyone else has (eventually) accepted our offers as we're administering our DMP ourselves. We have about eleven creditors too!
I'm just making the payments that I can afford as normal (by Internet transfer). I know that I will get a default but I've got those anyhow.
Mercers seem to be a pain in the bum. I'm on a "do not disturb" with phone calls for 30 days too. If they do keep ringing though, I'll simply send them a letter telling them not to. They also sent a letter saying that they want to send a debt collector around - but this was just before the 30 day hold on my account. There's a letter on the way to them about that too.
The main way that I'm trying to get rid of them is to see if the agreement is enforceable. I was prepared to pay them all the money back but they are being such a pain I thought that I'd be one back.

Hi
I found barclaycrap / miserys the worst of the lot
They would not take no for an answer
I changed my phone number and got software for my mobile that diverted certain numbers to voicemail, and recorded the calls
I also bought a personal 070 number- they can't send texts to that number AND it costs them 50p per minute to dial in :rotfl: (it also diverts to any mobile or landline of your choice free)0 -
