As for a DMP. I'm hoping I can arrange something in the next month or so to see a specialist advisor at the CAB. Do you know whether the fact I've actually kept up payments to date will count against me at all? I'm a bit worried the banks will see my sudden visit to CAB or CCCS as somewhat manipulative in the light of my ealier good conduct.

I don't think that it should matter. Especially if you are still using your credit cards to survive!

Wow that is cheap. Or could your gf move in with you?

Also, £120 pm on food is on the high side - you could probably get it to £80 pm if you get over to the old style boards.

ok step number 1 is you have to really really want to get off this debt merry go round once you have made that decision stick to it! its a hard long journey to travel and one that in the main you have to sort out for yourself as there is no magic debt fairy although this site is very helpful and full of friendly advise along the way.
4 years ago i decided enough was enough, my debt was spiralling wayyy out of my control and i didnt like it, i realised the cause of most of it was credit card and loan repayments that i thought at the time of spending the money "oh i can cope its only £30 extra or so a month" but all those £30, £50, "95`s extra a month soon add up, the first thing i did was be ruthless i cut my credit cards up so i could no longer spend on them, be proactive with your money, its your money and you work hard to get it why give it away willy nilly on interest here and interest there, be savy, use what you have got or do without or if you really and i mean really want something make sure you get the very best deal out there by scouring the internet first b4 you make any decisions or purchases. second thing to do is to look at your direct debits/monthly expenditure go through each thing and cancel or cut it right back to bare bones this includes all suppliers of internet phone water leccy etc also food i only ever buy reduced food and have cut my shopping bill dramatically we might not get what we like to eat but we always get fed and are never hungry freeing up precious ££s to repay debt quicker, plan for things like birthdays and xmas and car tax/mot they are not unexpected we all know when they are due put money aside each month to cover you so you dont get a big bill and cant cope without slapping them on credit cards. 4 years it has taken me yes 4 years and only now can i see light at the end of the very long tunnel i only have 1 card left now (down from 7 maxed out and 2 loans) which should be gone soon yayyy:j anyway the moral of this is you just have to knuckle down and get stuck in and sort it! no excuses no oh i think i`ll treat myself to that new handbag, and to start to live within your means rather than on credit.
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p

Getting debt free is rather like dieting. We all know how to do it. But when it comes to it we seem to forget it all.

So you know that you need to live Below your means. Which means two things

    1) increased income

    2)decrease outgoings

Or both. if you are not doing shift work can you not get another job stacking shelves over night in a supermarket, bar work etc.

There does not seem to be much to cut back on. Food is one as I spend approx £100 a month to feed two hungry adults and we don't eat lots of rubbish. Eat fresh fruit and plenty of veg.

How much longer do you have to pay your mum £100 as 1600 X 100 is 16 months. Use that once you have finished paying it you should use it for snowballing.

    All the best

    Yours
