Its not a case of looking for a cheap digital SLR. You need to find one that suits you. Go to a camera shop ie Jessops and have a play around with the cameras. What feels good in your hands, weight, ease of use, positions of the buttons etc. When you know which you like. Go on a price hunt on line.
There are a few people on here that take photographs with digital SLRs and they offer good advice.
Personally I have the Canon 350D. This is for two reasons 1) I have all my existing lences from my 35mm SLR and they are compatible 2) I like the camera.
My advice would be chose the camera you like and save for a bit longer if you need to. Its better to buy the camera you want now than an expencive mistake.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

I was going to say pretty much the same as Rikki. ive spent the last 3 weeks looking for my next camera I aslong as it isnt replaced with a newer model when I have the money I am going to go for a canon EOS 350d when buying an SRL you need to consider that the lenses can be expensive so your signing up with that manufacturer to maybe buy their cameras for the next few upgrades as the cost of buying new lenses for another camera make is huge.
The budget SLR's are all about £400 - £500 just find the one you like and buy it.0 -
As I always say have a look at PcWorld.com for reviews!

I got a Canon EOS 350D to replace my EOS 1000F. Also got the Powershot G6 for those holiday snaps - Lady G loves it! Both camera's give great results. NB Imported both from a Hong Kong supplier - which still worked out cheaper after import tax than buying locally!!!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0
