  • well... i did it. i checked my credit rating - and it wasn't as bad as i thought... just the credit card which is causing me problems... i'm sure i have more debts, but they're not showing - they are quite old, so does that mean they've gone away? the debt advice people i spoke to are the ones you pay - i should have realised when they phoned me within 5 mins of me enquiring on their website! i'll give them a wide berth and visit the citizens advice bureau i think!

Yes, give them a wide wide bearth. Have you made an appointment at CAB?

Please don't just sit back because your credit file is better than you thought - you can make it even better!

Have you got all your paperwork together yet? Do you have a list of all your 'old' debts and how much everything is?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

debts only usually 'go away' after 6 years (in england and 5 years in scotland) due to them being staute barred however any time within those 6 years and they can still be chased

but then if you can get yourself a good budget you can get a 'pot' set aside for other debts if they decide to chase

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)
