yes complain to the ombudsman and make sure you tell the court that you have had no contact for 9 years. i would expect the district judge to ask C&G for a full explaination of this too - it must be some error on their part that they didnt notice and you have brought it to their attention in contacting them.

i would be asking for a settlement figure for the arrears as they have been negligent - i wonder if they can even legally ask for 9 years of arrears as they should have taken action for debt within 6 years and they did nothing (perhaps 3 years can be written off?)

also get representation (CAB) and if you can afford the monthly payment ask to remain paying this until the issues about arrears etc can be resolved.
