Washington, D.C. - Congressman Ron Paul has continued to run his Congressional office in a frugal manner, and was able to return more than $100,000 from his allotted office budget to the Treasury this year, an increase over the $90,000 returned last year.
“Since my first year in Congress representing the 14th district I have managed my office in a frugal manner, instructing staff to provide the greatest possible service to the people of the 14th district at the least possible cost to taxpayers,” said Paul.

I found this another amazing story from the US.
Talk about doing what your voters want.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8556852.stmA conservative US state senator who has voted against gay rights measures during his 14 years in office has confessed he is gay.
Republican Roy Ashburn came out during a radio interview in California, where he sits on the state legislature.
He has been on leave since his arrest last week on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Mr Ashburn said his votes reflected the way his constituents wanted him to vote, not his own "internal conflict".0 -

Indeed! A cabinet made up of mostly middle aged women in very sensible skirts, a jolly man and a younger woman looking very shy and slightly lost.
Also, the country would have to shut for an hour for lunch and on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. And the Government benches would shhhh the Opposition benches for shouting during PMQs.0 -

wow, a representative who understands he is a representative. Shame he represents bigots, but good for him. (I appreciate the religious argument but I just can't fathom why the legal rights involved in things like civil union can't be applied without religious conflict to gay people, or even, frankly, asexual people who have a close relationship otherwise similar to ''marriage'')0 -

But they wouldn't shut for long summer holidays.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

And you'd get what you wanted...you'd have to fill in a form and wait a few weeks, but they would track it down....0 -

Sounds good to me, couldn't be worse than the current set up.
But back to the OP how much of a %age underspend is that? If its say 50% then thats impressive (but arguably means his providing a poor service to his constituants or is in somebodies pocket) if its 1% than its an unimpressive claim0 -
Self-promotion is something Ronnie and his many acolytes have never been frugal with.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0

Ron Paul and his ilk tend to be;
Anti-abortionists
Climate change denyers
Want everyone to have the right to have a gun.
Obsessed with Gold and Fiat currency.
For those and plenty more reasons, I have to say, "I won't be investing, I'm out".

I thought libertarians basically don't want the state to do anything. In which case, of course that kind of government is cheaper, but it's not where I'd want to live.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
