Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and looking for advice.
I'm looking for a hobby / part time job writing articles or short stories.. is there anything like that around?
Thanks!

Hi claire - i think its great that you are creative - unfortunately there isnt a huge amount of money to be had here - i think magazines do pay about £100 or 200 for a story in womens own - i would create a portfolio and then send all the titles to womens weekly magazines
good luck!0 -

Get yourself the Writer's Yearbook. You can usually find one in the library. They tell you who accepts unsolicited manuscripts. Woman's Own, for example, don't accept unsolicited. However, it's worth entering competitions too. I won one in Woman's Own and that meant I could then submit work to them. Take a Break will accept, but it's hard; you really need to study their style for a while. You'll see the same author names popping up. People's Friend needs loads of stories every week, but they pay less: last time I was in there, it was £75. It's always worth sending off for their guidelines.0
