Does anyone else's brain leave home at job interviews?

I had an interview today actually and declined a drink this time. I don't really think there is a right or wrong way to deal with it. You just have to make a judgement at the time and you can usually tell whether it is a genuine offer or not.
At another recent interview we were told to help ourselves from the machine. I did think there was something slightly cocky and overconfident about the people who made a beeline for the machine as soon as they walked in without even pausing to look around the room first.
Probably reading far too much into this! It's hardly make or break material really!0 -

What decided it was the person who got the job had some previous m.o.d experience (but the job wasn't specific to that though, it was in financial admin). So it sounds like a matter of connections, nothing I could have done :undecided Must network my ar*e off for the future!

Today my rejection letter arrived too - I had something similar, ie you were an excellent candidate blah blah but someone else fitted the criteria just that bit better. So it's back to the drawing board.

...AND I had a letter telling my my claim for council tax reduction had been turned down.....thank goodness I bought that chocolate (and the wine)!!0 -
Thanks OP, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I hate interviews because of this. I blush, stammer, become physically clumsy and my mind goes blank. My lips get stuck to my gums as well - aaghh. When I'm not stammering, I'm rambling - all just nerves. Once I sat on a low coffee table when they asked me to take a seat. I thought it was a chair. So humiliating.
When I first left School I worked in shops and factories and the interviews were, "What's your name and address?" followed by "Can you start tomorrow?" Those are my kind of questions
Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0
