Hi guys

I'm on the lookout for a PVR, one capable of decoding mpeg4 (terresterial) I've come across a box named 3VIEW from what I'm reading it fits the bill - anybody any experience of it.

If you are looking for a Freeview HD PVR, Humax will be launching theirs in the next couple of months.
You can already get the HD digibox (the Humax HD Fox T2):

The 3VIEW looks as good as the Humax, I'm no expert in this area, but I've looked and can find no evidence that it has MHEG so I'm not convinced it is a fully compatible FreeviewHD ready box.

Without an MHEG-5 APi you will have no red button etc so how will you navigate for example catch-up BBCi etc ?

I don't get it, I'd need to do a lot more investigation before I bought / pre - ordered !

3VIEW - so it receives SD through the aeriel and HD through your broadband? No thanks. Dunno what speed your broadband is, but mine's 4mb and I wouldn't want to wait for this to stream. With FreeviewHD around the corner, wait for one of those boxes and pay early adopter tax, or go with FreesatHD which has been around for over a year.

My understanding is that the 3View box will receive HD through the aerial (once it's available in your area of course). On top of this, it will allow you to view 4od and eventually BBC iPlayer through your internet connection (easier than connecting up a laptop to the telly if you don't have a Wii etc).

And finally, it will also allow you to show content from a HDD connected via USB - useful for those of us who have ripped old PVR content on to hard disk (I had no choice, my old box is only 80Gb - I can fill it up with a couple of series of The Wire....).

Anyway, the spec of the 3View box looks great. However, as it isn't released yet, I've no idea how usable it is - which is quite a key thing for me (I've spent enough of my life struggling with difficult remotes and user interfaces)..
