lloyds charging £75 a mth for acct I cant pay off!

My hubby lost his job, cancelled all Direct Debits in his bank as all benefits are being paid to me. He was at the brink of a £500 overdraft, and forgot about interest charges, which took him into unplanned OD which charged him £75, plus some other amounts... anyway he phoned bank and told them the situation, and they said since we couldnt afford to pay theyds freeze it, no extra charges, but somehow more was added on, another phonecall, promised the same thing, so it was frozen at minus £687 this time.
But this morning another letter saying hes now at -£760odd
Please help, we've got so many debts we're paying off and really struggling. Its killing me that we owe money for nothing!

    Hi acon

You need to write to them, when they agree to things on the phone they often don't follow through.

Write a letter to explain your circumstances and mention the phone calls you have had with them. Ask them again to freeze interest and then offer a monthly repayment plan to start repaying the debt (even if you can only afford a few quid a month it is much preferable to paying nothing at all in a creditors eyes)

There area couple of template letters here that you could use and adapt - http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/temp/5380_70771.pdf

  • Hiya,

I am so sorry to tell you this but Lloyds are a nightmare to deal with! My OH is in the same situation with them, he started off with a 3k OD and rang them up and asked to freeze the interest and to pay off £35 a month to which they agreed however they continued to add interest, several phone calls later to resolve the situation we are still hitting our heads against brick walls and the last we knew the OD was at 3500 - I really wish I could just pay them off they're a horrible bank to deal with - hope you have better luck with them xx
