99p rentals from Blockbuster this week

What's the Deal?

Very simply all movies and games at Blockbuster, including the latest releases are 99p per night in-store across the country for this week (ie until Sunday 30 July).

Link: Blockbuster Offer (though again remember this is an in-store offer not online)

Why is it doing this?

My guess is people take out many less DVDs during the heat wave much of the country is feeling, so to try and pump up the rental its doing this promotion. It should also be noted you only get the DVD for the night, rather than the longer 2 nights for most new rentals or a week for some others - so make sure you take it back on time.

NB. Generally online DVD rental is cheaper - for a full article, including how to tart and get a year's free rental read my DVD Tarting article.

Terms and Conditions

(from its site)

After the first night you'll be charged 99p for each extra night for a maximum of 14 nights in total. A limit may apply to the maximum number of rental items checked out on a membership account at any one time. Titles subject to availablilty.

For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. Please don’t let the festivities and cold weather prevent you from giving them the ultimate gift… give blood.

    Something worth knowing

BB staff have been told to tell cust rentals are for one night only to get the film returned so they are able to rent them again the next day
But the due dates on the computer system have not been changed for the week titles only so techncally you can have them for a week and not pay a fine!

they used to give you a free rental for joining up before as well - you may as well save that for when they shift the prices back up again though (assuming they still give the free rental)

thanks, I just dashed there and rented 4 new release titles.
It says on the literature there that it is one night, but all subsequent nights will also be charged at 99p... worth knowing if you're wanting to rent a game since a couple of nights still works out cheaper than normal.
They also give you a voucher for 2 for one rental next week which is nice.

They say in the fine print that there is, but I got out 4, all new releases.
After all, there'd be a limit to how many you could watch anyways.

Plus, it's nice to have something to watch besides game.co.uk every hour
