you have to use the supplied software to put music on a ipod.
your cd may need converting to mp3 first0 -
You do not have to use i-tunes to put music on to an i-pod. I use this programme
http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php
which is free and can be stored on the i-pod itself which means that you can transfer music from any computer. Just make sure your i-pod is not set to auto-synch.
Just use windows media player, audio grabber or winamp to rip your cds to mp3 format (or mp4/other format as preferred) then transfer them to your i-pod using copytrans manager.0
