Cleaning Cooker Hood

I know I'm reviving an old thread, however, I tried a number of these suggestions out this weekend and thought future visitors searching might find it useful.
Sugar Soap - I had a spray applicator from decorating - very ineffective on stainless steel, but great on paint
WD40 - I thought it was working but it just smeared all the grease around and left an even shiny surface covering of grease. Ineffective.
Washing soda - very effective. Cut right through the grease and removed it without much elbow grease.
I intend buying some Deepio when I find a local stockist.0 -

hi, just cleaned my cooker hood wire filters by soaking in washing powder and hot water..they come up like new and not a lot of scrubbing needed. the stainless steel cooker hood is so shiny now unbelievable..used wd40. these old methods are amazing and so easy.0

i have usually scrubbed the filters and still not got them really clean enough - looked at this post as I thought to myself there has to be an easier way to do this- only had washing powder ( of the various suggestions) available in the house and took misfit_49's advice and tried it -
awesome ..... thank you :T0 -
I had a gross stoves painted cooker hood that sadly I let go to near ruin because I just never got round to 'doing that job'. I found a product in my cupboard that I thought I would try to see if it worked, and it did the job perfectly. I have no personal links with the company so am not advertising it for any gain just to let you all know. I used Astonish multi-surface cleaner with orange oil, I couldn't even tell you where I got it or when. I just sprayed it on and left it for a few minutes, say 3 or 4 and wiped off with a warm damp cloth, rinsed cloth and wiped away residue then buffed up with a towel, it took about 10 minutes. It was so easy I used it on the surrounding tiles too. Great stuff. I have just seen it on ebay so you can get hold of it easy enough. Sunday chore done in 15 minutes.:j0
