One pf my old aunts told me that way back in the 1600s the very first Cornock that she new of killed his wife.:eek:To avoid capture he took on her christian name of cornock.He was hanged in gloustershire and put in an unmarked grave.Would love to know if there is any truth in there as stories get mixed over years.

If it is true then he must have hung on a pole:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Nanna I think Elsie is going to sort you out, she is a marvel, she found my grandfather (I had the wrong first name), and my great grandfather and mother in about 5 mins!!!! She also found my mother's family in a completely different part of the country from where I had been looking!!!! all this and hanging off the pole, wearing the body armour and taking on the Bristish banking community assisted by a man in tights, I'm getting tired just thinking about it.............................

Have you had a chance to sort it all out now.....its a bit confusing...I aways have to draw little maps to see who belongs to who. Its different on the UK births/marriage records. You get far more information online in Scotland, we would have had to send for the marriage certificate to find out the parents names.

I've been poking around all night. The mother's family goes right back to 1500 in that location, so now I am trying to find out how they all ended up in Glasgow. My father's side looks as if they were quite well to do but how my grandfather died is a bit of a mystery, he was only around 35-40 and I don't think it was in a war. and then there's my unmentionable great grandmother, wonder if she had a pole????? Its really interesting so have set aside some dosh from next months budget to do a couple of searches. Thanks Elsie for getting me properly started.

What year did your grandfather die, there is a site which is Commonwealth War Graves Commission, it tells you who died in the first and second world wars, and its free.
