Our local cinema only charges £2.95 if you go before midday. We take a picnic, provide our own sweets and drinks and have a good day out for under a tenner.

Last summer we also had a baking day and then took them round to some of the neighbours. In return we were invited round to two elderly neighbours for a 'games' afternoon where they taught my two to play some board games. It was actually really good fun!

I also look out for all the free entry places.

My children's favourite is PJ day. Where they can stay in their pyjamas all day if they want. Watch as many dvds as they want. Have any food they want. We have wierd meal combinations but they never actually want to watch that much tv. Instead, they always get the games out and I have to be onhand all day to play whatever they want.

Good luck with the holidays, ours doesn't start until Tuesday. This thread has also made me start my own to see if I can survive the holidays with £40 entertainment money!

Our local council-run pool is doing a junior swim pass for the duration of the summer holidays. For £10 each, kids can have one swim session per day every day if they want to.

    Not a bad buy:T
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

My DD's school is running a Drama course this week from Sunday to Friday 10am to 5pm for £15.00 the week BARGAIN :D just need to keep the packed lunches cheap & cheerful :p we are then going camping for 2 weeks, then she is practicing for a ballet at dancing school for a week so that comes under the £15 per week for lessons so no extra there to shell out and then in the last week we will be going away camping for a few days again. So I just have about a weeks worth of time to fill in with local visits to museum, river, park, swimming and cinema etc, etc
