I've never bought a Tupperware container in my life although I do have some in my cupboards. They were all inherited from my mother's kitchen after she died and we split her things up between myself and my two sisters.

Something I do find incredibly useful for fridge storage are the 1-litre buckets with a lid and a handle that the Greek-style yoghurt comes in at Lidl. Just the right size for storing soup and whatnot.
  • I wanted to buy some a while ago and googled hoping to buy online, but they don't seem to do that. They are still going as I have seen something recently about a new cheese dish they were developing.

I've still got a few tupperware pieces that I use, I think the last party I went to was about 20 years ago! When I was young my step-mum seemed to go to a party about once a month, it seemed like everything in our house was tupperware and it was normally orange. My younger brother even had tupperware toys, I can remember the red and blue shape sorter.

I bought tupperware salt & pepper pots brand new off ebay a couple of months ago, they're ideal for us because they've got lids and salt always goes damp in our kitchen if it's not airtight.

Tupperware is good but I don't think it's as good as lock & lock containers for storage.

I've just had a look and they still do parties. Alison is this the cheese dish?

I've got a tefal cheese storer from Lakeland which seems to do the same thing.

I'm surprised Tupperware don't have a UK online shop, you can buy them online in America, they're not cheap!

If you're looking for air-tight storage, IMHO Lock'n'Lock is better as it's water tight too :D I take soups and pasta to work in them, on my bike, so they don;t stay upright, and have never had any leakage :T

Not its not tight storage I'm after.

Its the softer plastic of Tupperware I like.

On nearly all other plastic boxes they loose their shape slightly & I can't get the lids on after a while on many of them.
  • I have tons of Tupperware that came from ebay, both UK and USA.They vary in age from very old to brand new stuff. I have some really old ones that seem to have an oilyness about them that I just can`t get rid of (despite having tried everything) and tbh some of the lids don`t fit very well on the containers either which I was very disappointed about. I have my spices in small Tupperwares and often struggle to get the lid to click into place......can be messy when I grab a tub only to find the lid is loose and I accidentally hurl half the contents onto the floor. I love the fridge smart containers but plan on comparing them with lock and lock for keeping food fresh. I recently bought Lock & Locks to organise my pantry and very pleased with them so far. Not sure I would bother with any more Tupperware unless it was something very special for a specific purpose. Also a lot of my Tupperware has a coloured body which means having to label the tub, while the Lock & Locks I can see what is inside.

    Are fridge smart new tupperware?

You all seem to speak highly of these Lock & Locks, where do you buy yours?
