Can anyone give me any advice?
I'm helping my OH with a credit card debt she has with Cap one. She was no longer able to make minimum payments on the card due to a reduction in income. I wrote to them on her behalf explaining the situation and they defaulted the account and passed to F.T.C.
CCA'd f.t.c. and they sent the standard signed application form for the card which I have seen before on the forums. Wrote back to f.t.c. explaining that the debt was possibly unenforcable but were willing to pay a reduced payment ( she wants to pay this debt off, just needs some breathing space) until circumstances changed. She has made reduced payments to f.t.c. since Nov 09.
Meanwhile Fredericksons turned up and stated they were collecting the account on behalf of f.t.c. and to make payments to them. Wrote and told them to "do one" and to contact f.t.c. to send her authorisation to collect the account on behalf of f.t.c.
Just had a letter this morning from f.t.c. to say they are passing the account back to Cap one, not heard anything recent from Fredericksons.
Can anyone figure out what's going on.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0
