Personally I still don't trust myself. Are you going to need credit like bigger mortgage or anything?
Cashback has been pretty much crushed by eu legislation. I would go for a good cashback debit card. Santander 123 has a calculator to see if it would benefit you. But please dont touch it if you like to use an overdraft though.
If you have something big to buy apply for the card for it so you that you get the new customer deal. No prizes for credit card loyalty im afraid xxxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000

I'm really keeping an eye on things now to make sure we don't go overdrawn at the end of the month considering I now have zero fall back savings.
So I continued my cost saving/supporting local businesses on Saturday and visited the local butchers. I got 6 tomato sausages, 4 large chicken breasts, 2lb of mince, a block of cheese and a handful of chicken pakora all for £16, I worked it out and this from the supermarket would have been roughly £28 :T Then off to the greengrocers for a few bits £6, on to Adli for some basics toilet roll, tinned tomatoes, kidney beans, bread, pizza (I know I should make my own but...) frozen salmon and tuna etc. I bulk bought cat litter for the month to avoid having to go to P at H too often as I get tempted by treats for all my little rats (3 cats and 2 rabbits). I also had a run with a tiny ginger kitten called Gary, who snuggled in to my arms and fell asleep :happyhear
On Friday I discovered on the Feed yourself for £1 a day facebook page a website called Approved Foods. They sell things close to or passed their Best Before date and other discounted stuff. I got a load of Applaws cat food for a fraction of the normal price. Some washing tablets and other bits and bobs. with the delivery charge of £5.99 it cost £44.55 which is a saving of £54.90 on the normal price so actually less than half price. I am currently thrilled but the order hasn't arrived yet so I could yet be disappointed.
Anyway I got together my 2lb of mince, my usual filler of red lentils, the tomatoes, kidney beans and veggies and made 4 cottage pies for the freezer and about 8 portions of chilli. I sometimes extend the chilli when I am ready to use it by adding another can of chopped tomatoes. So now I have a freezer absolutely full of meals so if anything goes wrong at least we can eat. :A
Had a bit of an upset on Monday though, DH went to the doctors for a check up, he hadn't been feeling well of late. The doctor called an ambulance and carted him off to hospital. His BP was 102/45,they did discharge him the same day but he needs an angiogram and his specialist is talking about heart by-pass. :eek: Which is all another reason I want to be completely debt free in case he has to give up work.My Debt Free Diary LBM March 2010

:rotfl::rotfl: Good point although to be fair he usually gets them for 99p on fleabay so it's not the individual cost that's the problem just the sheer volume. :rotfl::rotfl:My Debt Free Diary LBM March 2010

I've read your wonderfully inspiring diary and am subscribing.
Heart by pass sounds scary but he will probably feel so much better once recovered. He would need to be off work until then but definitely could go back. Thank goodness he had made an appointment and the doctor was able to prevent a serious situation from becoming much worse. Best wishes with all of this.
After OH's serious cc addiction, 99p books are a great distraction!:beer:
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I've got a secret....................................................................:shhh::silenced:
I applied for 2 new jobs at work, I haven't been happy for sometime, my manager is a bit of a nutter. Anyway I had interviews for both of them this week and they both went very well. In fact I have been offered one of the jobs already and that would be in a team with one of my friends. The other I only had the interview Thursday, so I may hear something next week. Anyway I have one in the bag. Plus this will mean a modest pay rise. :beer: But mostly it means getting out of an unpleasant situation.
In other news my Approved Foods delivery arrived, very pleased. The tinned vegetables I bought are a brand I am not familiar with so hopefully they will be okay. I picked up some more mince and chicken breasts today, plus mushrooms and courgettes from the greengrocers. So I have a plentiful supply of dinners for the whole week including interesting things to keep DH happy. Chicken Risotto, Burrittos, Thai Green Curry, Pulled Pork sandwiches etc. Oh and in the Greengrocers I selected a cabbage, at the till the assistant said it was a bit yellowing and would I accept a different one, I said it didn't matter because it was for the rabbits anyway. So he just gave it to me for free
I spent £9 at the butchers, £3.74 at the greengrocers and £40 at Mr A which included £8 for a massive bag of dishwasher tablets at 1/2 price. Spending money bank account is now £854 to last 3 weeks, and the Bills account has £534 with only £450 of DDs due to come out. So fingers crossed, if I say anything about being optimistic I will jinx myself.My Debt Free Diary LBM March 2010
