all i know is its just a black and white picture of just the stairs with an old tired looking man, must be similar to the one in op but not the bears lol

he remembers seeing this 50+ years ago at college, i am desperate to find it for him

Ok, it would appear that this impossible staircase was originally devised by Lionel and Roger Penrose, or possibly Oscar Reutersvard. I still can't find the one you want though.
