Just wondering has anyone ever went to any of these sales, saw one adverised for tomorrow. Just wondered if they are worth a visit or not. Is it all auction? What way does it work?

Stay at home. Buy locally. Al least when the item breaks down you have somewhere to go not a vague address in GB.
