Heres my opinion on what you should do;
1- Wait for court papers.
2- When you get court papers read through them very carefully. See if there is a contract attached.
3 - Write down what happened in chronological order. This would be notes for what you would say in court. Its best to have notes sometimes people get stage fright and can't remember what they wanted to say. Type it out nicely in case anyone else wants to see it.
4- Get the 2nd plumber to write and sign a statement, it would be even better if he could go to court with you. Ask him to include details of when he started the work, the state of the bathroom when he began, what correction he had to do, what work had to be completed, and how much he charged and for what. If he is registered with any organisations, make sure he has them listed on the paper, it helps prove he knows what he is doing.
5- Go to court present your side, and present your plumbers statement.
You have to have faith that the judge will be reasonable. Try to remain as calm as possible and do not lose your temper if the 1st plumber says something. DO NOT CONTACT HIM, if you query anything at all contact the debt collectors he has instructed. It has gone past the stage of sorting it our between you.0 -
I nearly agree. But I think at this stage a letter refusing all unreasonable elements of charges should be fired off and OP should be prepared to pay for the 'useful' elements of the work which was done. Before court papers.Heres my opinion on what you should do;
