Hi everyone
just found this site, its fab, but couldnt find what i was looking for so hoping someone my be able to help me.
My partner paid his debt off last year, which we thought was finished with. We heard nothing for a while but then suddenly started hassling us again for another £80 due to phone calls made, my partner reluctantly paid this and again we thought it was all over and now they have started to say there was more money owed for phone calls. Of course in hindsight we wished we never answered their phone calls ! as it seems it was costing us £10 a time ! we dont know what to do now, as it seems it might not ever end !
Could anyone tell me if this is legal ?
your help much appreciated

Unless they provided you with a full statement of charges in advance that you agreed to, no they can't. Tell them to sod off, or take you to court.
They'll sod off.
Good luck xSome days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Does this also include an inhouse (Additions) collections group that charges us £12 per month for "attempted contact" when they state they have attempted to ring us numerous times?? We have told Additions in writing 3 times that we want contact in writing by post only, and this group is their inhouse collections group. I get really frustrated with this, as we changed our home phone number months ago, and they are not even calling our current number - as far as I know someone else has our old number now. (I know this as MIL accidentally called our old number a few months ago and the person said they were getting a bunch of calls intended for us - oops!) So how can they justify charging us £12 per month for this "attempted contact" saying it is due to trying to ring us, when they don't have our phone number to ring anyway?!?!?!!MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

thanks everyone for your help.
my partner knew nothing about that they would be charging him phone calls. It seems to have been the calls we answered. My partners last contact with them was asking them to send a document through that it was legal for them to charge for phone calls.
I think we might have to ask for more help on this matter, because they just wont go away and they are drivng me crazy.0 -
just to let you guys know ... my partner went to their office and asked them to send a legal document to show they can legally charge for the phone calls .... we had not heard anything all week and then they phoned , my partner didnt answer but phoned them back and they are now saying in goodwill they are going to waiver the outstanding amount as he has already payed his debt !!!! He has asked for that in writing ......... just in case !0

Good to hear Dianet..... they were just chancing it, seeing if they could bully him into paying up. As with most of the charlatans, once you call them out of the lies/cons etc, they back off.
Keep that letter safe when you get it!
