Gordons secret bank

I was mucking about on the entitled to web site. There is a box where you are required to enter any savings. As an exercise I put is £150,000. Now those lovely people who give out benefits assume a weekly income of £280 per week from that amount.

Now I know there are some bright folk on here, far brighter than me. Where is this bank that pays out this amount in interest. Now don`t be shy. There`s a pint in it for you!

    What?
You've got £150,000 in the bank AND you're scrounging off us taxpayers?
Who do you think you are?
    An MP?

Ha ha ha, if I was an MP I wouldn`t want to post here. I did say I was mucking about with Entitled to. The point I was making is the fact that is that it is assumed that almost 10 % interest is assumed to be had from from any bank savings accounts.

That isn't the point. They aren't "assuming that you'll earn 10% on your savings". They are saying that you are required to eat into your savings, if you have lots of them, rather than getting the maximum amount of benefits.

The 10% is not a rate of return on the savings. It is merely a device to ensure that you use up your savings at a particular rate.

Ah I see. Didn`t realise that. Now that I have read the notes I see that it doesn`t refer to income generated.

The name's a pretty good summation of what's wrong with our society.

Certainly seems a mandate for some I can think of. I have to say, it doesn`t seem to apply much to people who have spent years of their life contributing to the country.

    One word , protest.

Start a minority group ,citing inequality to those that have no kids for not getting tax credits or benefits .

Start another group that when you work away from home as part of your job ,that you have to pay for a roof over your head from your wages and for someone changing the light bulbs in your other house and someone else in order for getting the garden done.

Start a group that your being penalised for saving because you never brought the world to its knees in cahoots with credit from the banks and instead selfishly saved.HOW DARE YOU!

Start another group that you dont get disability benefit because you have a some non illeness with a latin name for fear of breaking a nail or a phobia of public transport , yet again inequality.

Start another group that you paid n.i for cradle to the grave care and then the council took your home to fund what you already paid for.

If this is under the supposedly socialist labour party then !!!!!! whats it going to be like when the rich lovers tories get in and rip the heart out of the socialist idealogies......we better grab something solid , grease up our poopchutes and and have enough spare change to pay the chaps when they are finsihed for the serivce.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
