DLC Collections

hi there - just looking for a bit of advice. bit of background - we have massive debts of aroung £44,000:eek: our biggest creditor is RBS - they have a decree/ccj against us and we pay them £600 per month. i had an egg banking credt card a few years back - the balance is £1410.80. i have been on a special arrangement with DLC who now own the debt for a couple of years now. the payments started at £15 per month and this is reviewd every 6 months. however, every time i have a review they convince me to up the payment by a few pounds! i now pay them £22 per month. i had another review today and the girl worked out that the minimum i could pay is £25 per month. i dug my heels in and said i definately could not afford any more - i know its only an extra few pounds a month but this happens every time i have a review. i wish they would just let me get on with paying it! the girl eventually agreed to put the arrangement in place again for another 6 months at £22 per month. i know i'm probably being paranoid but now that she has told me that this arangement's in place, do you think they'll stick to it? i'm worried they'll still take me to court anyway as the girl said the minimum she could accept was £25 per month but then accepted £22 anyway?? i have phoned them another twice today and both times they told me a confirmation letter is being sent out saying my arrangement is in place. i really don't think for £1410.80 they would bother taking me to court when i am paying them every month anyway but you can never be sure - i'm wondering if i should have agreed to the £25.00 per month??

many thanks in advance

First thing is don't do it over the phone
make sure you do it in writing

These sort of people are trained bullies

Second, if thats all you can afford, thats all they can get, but are you leaving yourself short for priority bills, food and such like?

It will probably cost them more than you owe to take you to court

Have you contacted one of these Non-profit Debt Counsellors' List

DLC are one of my creditirs and can be very difficult to deal with. Write to them and tell them in future all correspondence will only be dealt with in writing and not on the phone. tell them to remove your contact numbers, whcih is your right.

When they want to review it just write to them in response and enclose an income and expenditure sheet which demonstrates that you are paying all that you can afford and carry on paying that amount.

They might pursue you to court but provided you show you are paying all that you can it is highly likely they won't get more.

Keep all correspondence for evidence. If they have agreed to payments at a set level for 6 months i wouldn't imagine they will do much for the next 6 months

thank you both for your replies x in the past they have accepted the arangement, but they always pursuade me to up the payments a couple of pounds! the reason i'm concerned now is that i was adamant i wasn't paying any more, and the girl said she couldn't accept any more than the £25 but then accepted £22 anyway! was just worried that they might take me to court since they since i totally wouldn't budge on the payments. hopefully will be ok. thank you both x
