Help needed please

hi just four weeks ago i bought a tv for my lorry as im away a lot,,it was very expensive but i saved for it,it was an Avtex wd tv/dvd combo an cost £299 which for a 10" screen is not cheap.. after four weeks my eight year old son dropped it in my cab onto a carpeted floor but no luck it would not turn on ..i paid 200 on my barclay debit card and 100 cash,,the shop sent it back but Avtex have just quoted me 170 to fix it or a new one for 200,,i do not have the money as i have 5 children is there anything i can do guys??? anything

Just in case you meant credit card not debit card,

Contact the customer services and ask them if your account associated with the debit card has any free insurance perks with it.

This kind of scenario is why people like Martin, and other sites, recommend using a credit card always, never cheques or debit cards, as they do not allow you to sue the card supplier along with the merchant for non delivery or faulty goods, or as in this case, provide free cover for accidental damage and theft that some credit cards offer.

I assume your household policy will not cover it (one condition of the credit card insurance paying anything, anyway)
