Hi, I received a letter form insrtum justitia stating that i have a debt of £600 from a rbs credit card. The thing is i cleared this debt 4/5 years ago. The letter was delivered to my parents address and is dated in January, i only received said letter today! (i havent lived there for 6 years) The letter says that i have an offer to pay 75% of the debt owed.
Now i googled this company and they have shocking reviews and use bullying tactics in order to gain payment. I am a bit nervous to call them, i have PAYED this money and not giving them a penny!

do you have access tro your credit report? check if it is showing on there- 30 days free trials are available so wont cost you
Do you have proof you paid the debt?
Did you not settle with a settlement figure? If so they can sell the remainder on to a dca, unless it was a full and final settlement and letters state that.
If you havent paid /acknowledged the debt for 6 years it is statute barred ie they cant recover it via channels like court ccj etc. If you refuse to pay they cant do anything to make you (i know you say you paid 4/5 years ago but time does fly it maybe longer/shorter)
Look on your credit report, make sure its not on your files. If you are sure you have paid it you could provide them with proof.0 -
Search on the forums for the template letters. Send them a PROVE IT letter. It is their obligation to prove the debt is yours.
If you have the proof of final payment, then send it to them with any other information blocked out (your current account details, signature panel etc).
Good luck. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I dealt with them years ago and they were harsh, ive dealt with a couple of other DCAs and they were by far the most full on. As above youve paid it so get them to prove the debt.0
