confused!

Hi,

wasn't sure where to place this promlem on the forums, so please feel free to have it moved.

I recently recieved a letter from a debt collecters company stating that i owed £887.62 to Nationwide Bank, i was very surprised as i have never ever had an account with Nationwide! the next day i recieved a call from the company and i explained how i have never banked with Nationwide and i was really worried that i was even being questioned! The gentleman said he would contact me soon, Yesterday i recieved a letter from the debt collectors to say this issue was under investigation and will contact me soon.

I am very concerned as how will they or myself prove that i don't owe this money to the bank? The debt collector company had all my correct details, i.e. full name address, d.o.b???

Help :(

well as ever it is down to the debt company to prove you owe the debt, NOT for you to prove that you dont.

the usual way is through a CCA which you should have signed, although online applications have to be taken into account, if they phone you again without any proper proof but still saying you owe it you can just send the prove it letter on these forums.

if however they do phone up and say there was a mistake etc, ask for them to send it to you in writing incase they or someone else try and pin it on you again!

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

You could always take a look at your credit reports to see if anything is on there.
