Aspiring writer, when I started contributing to this board I could barely string two words together. Just typing conversation got my mind flowing more easily again. I can still be pretty unclear, but just typing an typing...it gets the creative juices flowing....
if only I had word or open office I reckon I would have finished my book for carolt by now.:D:D0 -
Besides, I've got to be a writer, I look like one! I even have my glasses on a cord, I listen to Radio 4, read loads of books and nod sagely when Grumpy Old Men are pontificating on the subject of the day!
OK, the last one is because I am of a certain age, nothing to do with writing at all. In all seriousness, I have been writing and studying the art/craft of writing for years."If you are going through Hell, keep going" - Winston Churchill0 -

LIR, ta, you're a star! see, i can do poetry an all innit?
You are right about the act of writing. Stephen King wrote a short book called "On Writing - A Memoir of the Craft" which was half autobio and the other half was his views and advice on how to be a writer. Write Write Write is the edict from most writers including King. Just getting into the groove/zone whatever at a regular time every day really helps, with no interruptions.
I have open office btw, its ok, but it doesnt have MS Word's readability stats facility, which comes in handy when editing.
Im off to watch QT and This Week and shout at the TV!

In my little draft I have ut Hamish and mewbie. If its just for me, that is the best example. If its for anyne else they'll just have to assume I know two weirdly named intellectual adversaries. Besides which the stupidity of my reaction is nicely humourous now (and I'm just about to pour a glass of delicious wine). One can only laugh at oneself really: how silly I am to get so cross, and even flirt with entering a row I can only serve to get hurt by. I shall pretend in law is a naughty doggy and let them stew in their own juice.0 -
