British gas tarriff that doesn't exist.

I have just come across something that has intrigued me.

I am just about to change my G & E supplier. Did the comparison through energyhelpline.com (a link found on this website) and British Gas came out top. I saw their "Green Click Energy" tarriff and their "Click Energy" tarriff so gave them both a read (see below for actual text) and thought I'd do my bit for the environment.

I then checked the BG website directly to see about bigger discount (a cunning tip I found on this website - didn't work though!) but couldn't find find the tarriff. So I called them up. I got told that that tarriff doesn't exist and never has.

What the chuffing heck is going on??

S.

Quote from https://www.energyhelpline.com "...Electricity for this tariff is generated from environmentally friendly sources such as Wind Farms, and is offered to customers at no additional cost. Customers will be on the green tariff until the end of 2006, after which they will revert back to normal energy supply arrangements. British Gas's partner, Carbon Neutral Company, will plant a new sapling for every 10 customers signing up. Customers will also get a quarterly environmental e-magazine."

The Click Energy website is here.

Good luck signing up, though. I tried, but never heard back from them, despite numerous calls and e-mails. I'm now in the process of transferring elsewhere and I think I'll end up being billed on the standard tariff for the time I was with BG.

Others have had a bit more success but I'm not the only one who ran into problems - Click energy thread here.

Click Energy & BG are a bit of a mess. I switched and got a switch date of 19 June. I got my 'you have switched' letter on 19th July but BG made sure the direct debit went active straight away. I have managed to register online but not on the click website (it doesn't seem to work), I used the house one but even then, my account is still in the 'registration process' so I can't do much. I was going to switch but the recent round of price hikes means click is still the cheapest for me.
