How number of children affects mortgage application

Hi all

Quick Q... We are slowly but surely saving for a deposit (actually being in a position to apply won't be for a few years yet.)

We have three children (aged 6, 3 and nearly 1.) I know how many is a factor when applying for a mortgage. What I am wondering is if there is a specific way this affects an application, or is there a general rule of thumb that mortgage companies apply so I can have some idea of how it would factor in?

Hope that makes sense!

Different lenders with different credit scoring systems will treat different borrowers in different ways.

    So no rule of thumb.

Ah fair enough, that's to be expected I guess. Thanks.
