Iam a member of a local freecycle group on yahoo and just wanted to ask a question?
Iam looking to make some extra cash through boot sales/ebay. Is it frowned upon if you collect unwanted goods from Freecyclers and then sell them on?;)

As long as you're the new legal holder of the goods, legally probably nothing wrong with it.
Morally, its shady but hey. Needs must I guess.0 -
depends if you have a conscience or not lol people who use freecycle are normally in need of things & i think i would be a little upset if my donation was making someone else money but then i wont lie we got something that ended up being to big & we sold it. I dont use freecycle any more as i dont 'need' anything. I have seen people on there who welcome carbooters etc so not everyone minds x"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, but Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad."0

On our local freecycle group members tend to ask for "items suitable for a carboot" then i guess the donater can't complain0

Usually freecycle groups ask people to declare if they want to sell items at boot sales. It is against the spirit of freecycle which is based on giving to those in need, not giving for others to make profit.
I'm a freecycler who offer things up because I think they may be of use to people who can't afford them otherwise. I'd be really !!!!ed off if I thought someone was secretly leeching off a freecycle list...after all, if I wanted money to be made out of an item I'd have sold it myself.“Don't do it! Our freegle group says that if you are a car booter/ebayer then you need to declare it when collecting or replying to posts. Needless to say there are some people that don't. My view is that the group was set up to keep stuff out of landfills etc, if someone thinks they can make money out of my donated items and doesn't tell me then I would be a bit miffed about it but not a lot I could do about it. I think you should be honest about it and only reply to posts where they do not say no carbooters/ebayers.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 102

When I have donated to freecycle there are usually a number of people who ask for the item, it would be a shame if someone with a real need missed out for the sake of another freecycler who wanted some extra cash. But trying to be open minded, if the reseller was really hard up and needed the cash for food & clothes, then would that be ok? I suppose it depends what you are raising money for... if its for living expenses then ok... for a holiday or new hi-def flat screen .... not so ok if you ask me. Personally I would tell the donatee before collection that I was palnning to sell it on...Beer meter E[.\.......]F0

Hey, many people use freecycle and normally in need of things. But donation was making someone else money. And finally i am not use freecycle.0

I suppose as long as you declare what you intend to do with the goods you should be ok. Personally I would not give to someone who was going to make money from it.....I could do that myself if I wanted to. I usually give the goods to the person who is going to make use of it.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
I find this one a hard one as i have in the past donated things and felt when they have been collected that maybe they were not going to someone who needed them, as one guy turned up in brand new car for our tumble dryer that needed fixing.....i might be cynical and he could have borrowed the car :rotfl:
But i would be miffed if he fixed it then sold it on just for profit and new cars....if he needed food etc then i can understand it, but at the end of the day i believe what goes around comes around so if you do something shady...shady will come and bite you in the bum eventually!0 -
it could have been a company car...Beer meter E[.\.......]F0
