Rapunzel's wig - exhaust advice needed

Is the exhaust checked as part of the MOT? I know the emissions are but would the exhaust be looked at too?
It was MOT'd a month ago, so I'm hoping that the whole exhaust's not corroded. Would it be checked in the MOT?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
exhaust emissions, condition and noise levels are checked at the MOT
however its one of those things that the internal baffles can just 'go'0 -
Thanks for the advice guys."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

http://www.ukmot.com/6-3.aspb. a silencer in such a condition, or of such a type, that the noise emitted from the vehicle is clearly unreasonably above the level expected from a similar vehicle with a silencer in average condition0 -
To pass the MOT the exhaust gases must go through a silencer, i bet that car has 2 otherwise it wouldnt have a "back box", therefore it would pass that.
The fibres are only noise reduction and like a cassetee tape there are miles of them so trimming off a couple of feet will make a negligible difference. As this is a money saving site, keep running it till it the pipe or box gets a hole in it, just keep it trimmed, no-one will know.0 -
Just sound deadening material from the silencer from what you've described, not the catalytic converter.0

That's interesting, andyg. I've noticed absolutely no difference in the noise levels. Perhaps I only pulled a bit out. I may just keep an eye/ear on it for a while."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
