Anyone applying with Alliance and Leicester?

Just trying to understand their turnaround times as I am not impressed so far.

  • Did you go direct to branch or through a broker? Turnaround is typically 4 weeks but can be longer in some circumstances. If you used a broker get them to do some legwork for you

I used a broker, I have tried to phone directly to see if they have anything and they won't tell me. I haven't had a valuation instruction in fact I have heard nothing in 3 weeks which seems too long without any contact.

We're going through A & L- it's taken just over three weeks for them to instruct the valuation (taking place today).

So they are slow, Nationwide came back in two days. Do you know which company they have instructed on the valuation?

They are really slow, one of the slowest to apply with - think due to the change to santander.
I applied with natwest through a broker, took one week from AIP to get underwritten, valuation instructed and that was back within 3 days and mortgage offer now in post.
So glad i didnt go with A & L as were in a rush to move.

Well their IT dept seem to be a long way ahead of the transformation process, the phone numbers put you through to Santander who can't answer any questions regarding A & L mortgages. Very un TCF!!!!

Over the last couple of years A&L have made redundacies within the mortgage processing unit...all applications used to be dealt with in Belfast, however due to competitive rates and increased business they have recently outsourced the overspill to Wigan.....and they're still behind ..working anywhere between day 6 to 10.....

They use Connells for surveys and http://www.hometrack.co.uk/ for automated vals.....

They are using Countrywide for our valuation.
To be fair to A & L, they did ask for proof of deposit within the three week period it took to get to the valuation stage, so at least they weren't just sitting on the application.
Hope they get back to you soon. Might be worth getting your broker to chase them up. We did, and magically they instructed the valuation the next day!
